Jakarta, April 7, 2026 – Badak LNG has once again achieved a proud milestone by winning the Gold PROPER Award for the 15th time. The award was presented at Sasono Langen Budoyo, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), Jakarta, on Tuesday (April 7), and was accepted in person by Badak LNG’s President Director & CEO, Achmad Khoiruddin.
As a subsidiary of Pertamina’s Upstream Subholding, Badak LNG continues to strengthen its commitment to realizing a sustainable, environmentally friendly LNG industry and delivering positive impacts for the surrounding community.
Since first achieving it in 2011, this 15th Gold PROPER award reflects the consistency of the company’s strategy as a leading, environmentally friendly, socially responsible Global Energy Company that upholds good corporate governance.
In 2025, Badak LNG introduced various innovations and flagship programs that served as key factors in this achievement, including: Eco-Innovation in the Automation of the Refrigerant Compressor Antisurge Control System, designed to reduce steam consumption during low-volume LNG production. This initiative resulted in a significant reduction in the potential for global warming by 51.98% and the potential for ozone depletion by 16.30%. Decarbonization efforts were further strengthened through conservation and reforestation programs in the Badak LNG area, which successfully reduced emissions by 40,701 tons of CO2eq per year. Badak LNG actively implements various greenhouse gas mitigation actions as part of its support for Indonesia’s goal of achieving Net Zero Emissions (NZE).
In the social and environmental sectors, Badak LNG also runs a community empowerment program called Lestari Bahari (Integrated & Self-Reliant Economic Hub Based on Marine Resources), which processes small fish such as anchovies into economically valuable products. This program utilizes drying technology capable of operating under various weather conditions to extend the shelf life of the fish. Additionally, fish waste is processed into livestock feed, thereby adding value while reducing environmental impacts in coastal areas.
The Lestari Bahari program introduces the SOPAN TERI innovation (Integrated Drying and Storage Optimization System), a boiling furnace and drying container whose operation adopts a principle from one of the processes in the LNG production unit—namely the Economizer principle (utilization of exhaust gas heat) in the steam supply unit (boiler) at the Badak LNG Plant. This concept of utilizing exhaust gas heat is applied in the SOPAN TERI Fish Drying Unit, where residual heat from the boiling kettle is channeled into the drying container to dry the fish. This innovation employs simple technology and readily available materials, making it easy for the community to implement. The SOPAN TERI innovation has also received a patent from the Ministry of Law of the Republic of Indonesia titled “Fish Drying Machine Utilizing Hot Air from a Boiling Furnace” with number IDS000011421, and is part of various other patent achievements in the field of CSR innovation.
In the same year, Badak LNG also initiated the TAMASYA (Taman Asuh Sayang Anak) program as a manifestation of the company’s commitment to building an outstanding future generation toward a Golden Indonesia. Through support for 17 Childcare Centers (TPA) in Bontang City, this program focuses on improving the quality of early childhood care by strengthening caregivers’ capacity, providing competency certification, and offering ongoing guidance for parents.
Badak LNG President Director & CEO Achmad Khoiruddin expressed his gratitude and appreciation for this achievement.
“Thank you to everyone at Badak LNG for your support, which has enabled us to once again achieve our 15th Gold PROPER Award. This achievement is proof of the company’s commitment to consistently aligning business activities with environmental stewardship, and of course, this is a gift from Allah SWT.”
He added that moving forward, the company will continue to strengthen its commitment to environmental conservation. “The company will continue to strive to maintain environmental balance, encompassing biological, wildlife, and community empowerment aspects,” he concluded.
