From Waste to Roster: Badak LNG Shares Its Eco-Cooler Innovation with Its Partner Groups

Badak LNG continues to promote waste management and community empowerment through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs. One such initiative involves raising awareness and demonstrating how to make eco-cooler grilles using calcium silicate waste, in collaboration with the Telihan Recycle Group, one of Badak LNG’s supported partners.

This activity introduces the use of calcium silicate—a byproduct of Badak LNG’s operations—to create products with practical value. The eco-cooler grille innovation was developed by Badak LNG employees and subsequently shared with the community as part of efforts to expand waste utilization while enhancing the capacity of community groups.

The eco-cooler vent is a ventilation element that helps improve air circulation, thereby creating a cooler and more comfortable space. The use of calcium silicate as one of the materials in the product’s manufacture serves as an example of how a material previously considered waste can be transformed into a useful product.

During the activity, members of the Telihan Recycle Group not only received an explanation of the eco-cooler concept but also had the opportunity to directly practice the manufacturing process. One of the Badak LNG workers, Gusnadi, accompanied the participants through each stage of the practical session.

It is hoped that the knowledge and skills gained through this activity can be further developed independently by the Telihan Recycle Group. “The hope is that the knowledge and skills that have been practiced can be developed independently by the group. In addition to being used for their own needs and those of the surrounding community, these eco-cooler roosters also have the potential to be developed into products with economic value that can be marketed,” said Gusnadi.
